MANATEE -- First the fog, then the rain blanketed Manatee County as showers swept into the region from the Gulf of Mexico.
All the unpleasantness is expected to be gone in time for the New Year's Eve festivities, according to Bay News 9 chief meteorologist Mike Clay.
Conditions will be clear for New Year's Eve, with temperatures expected in the mid-60s by Wednesday night.
“New Year’s Eve should be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy and mild,” Clay said. “Temperatures will be around 64 at midnight. The first day of 2015 might be rather cloudy, but dry with highs in the 70s.”
Light rain could continue Tuesday overnight with a few showers and mostly cloudy skies.
"Lows will drop a little, into the upper 50s to lower 60s," Clay said. "The slightly cooler air will remain for Wednesday as winds become northeast and there is just a slight chance of showers."
