MANATEE -- Heavy storms are making their way through the Bay News 9 seven-county viewing area.
Heat and high humidity often translate into afternoon showers and storms in the middle of the summer, and that will be the case over the next few days, according to Bay News 9 meteorologist Brian McClure.
"The storms will slowly wind down into the night with partly cloudy skies overnight," said McClure.
A big thunderstorm in Pinellas County brought heavy rains to St. Pete Beach and Gulfport areas. According to McClure, the heaviest storms are moving through Hernando and Pasco counties.
Lows will drop into the mid to upper 70s, with some spots a couple degrees cooler due to rain cooled air.
There's a 60 percent chance of rain Monday and Tuesday, and it won't drop much Wednesday.
The good news is, Tropical Storm Bertha will be veering away from Florida and won't impact the Tampa Bay area
