A father shot his two children and then killed himself outside a Dania Beach home, authorities said early Wednesday.
A 1-year-old girl was killed and a 7-year-old boy was seriously wounded and taken to the hospital, according to reports.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene around 1:30 a.m. at Southwest Eighth Avenue and First Street near Dania Beach Boulevard.
The shooting happened after an argument between the father, Timothy Hollis, 32, and the the mother, Lashunda Bowers, 34.

While Bowers went into the home of family members to get help, Hollis stayed with their two children in the car, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
“The mother left the vehicle they were in, trying to reach a relative’s home to seek aid,” said Gina Carter, a sheriff’s spokeswoman on the scene. “While in that home she heard shots being fired. When she and her relatives came out they discovered the bodies and the injured child.”
The children were identified as Timothy Hollis Jr., who was taken to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, and Kalila Hollis, who died on the sidewalk.
