TAMPA -- A Florida panther kitten that was abandoned by his mother was taken to Lowry Park Zoo, where city officials say he is now doing well.
Florida Fish and Wildlife biologists found the kitten near Naples in January. At the time he was just a week old and near death. He barely weighed three pounds when he arrived at the zoo.
According to a video released by the city of Tampa, the kitten is now nine weeks old and weighs more than 10 pounds. Like a big boy, he's given up his bottle and is now eating meat.
The panther will soon transition to a permanent home at the Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park.
