MANATEE -- A third candidate has withdrawn from the race for the Manatee County Commission District 1 seat.
Republican Sheri Clinard is no longer running for the seat in the 2016 election, according to the Manatee County Supervisor of Elections website.
Clinard, a Palmetto resident and former co-owner of the Lucky Dog restaurant in downtown Bradenton, had loaned her campaign $50, which was her sole contribution.
The District 1 commissioner represents Palmetto, Parrish, Duette, Terra Ceia, Rubonia, Palm View, Gillette and parts of Myakka City.

The other two candidates who previously withdrew from the race: Commissioner Larry Bustle and Nathaniel Leonard, a Parrish resident.
The five candidates who remain in the race are Palmetto City Commissioner Jonathan Davis; Corie Holmes, former Manatee County sheriff's deputy and a former Democrat; former state Rep. Ron Reagan; Parrish resident Dustin Schaal; Priscilla Trace, who along with her family developed Ellenton Nursery Growers; and Michael Hillesheim, a former county employee.
All but one of the candidates in the District 1 race are Republicans.
Since Hillesheim is a write-in candidate, it forces a November general election to decide the race. The primary is in August.
