MANATEE -- Angelina "Angel" Colonneso has filed to run for Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller in the 2016 election.
Colonneso, a Republican, filed her paperwork Thursday with the Supervisor of Elections Office.
Colonneso was appointed interim clerk of the circuit court and comptroller by Chief Circuit Judge Charles Williams after the July 29 death of R.B. "Chips" Shore, whose term was to expire in January 2017. Prior to his death, Shore had already filed for re-election.
Prior to her appointment to interim clerk of the circuit court, Colonneso was general counsel for the clerk's office.
In 1976, Shore was elected clerk of the circuit court and took office in 1977. Shore was the longest-serving clerk of court in Manatee County history.
