MANATEE -- Both incumbents were re-elected Tuesday to the three-member Manatee County Mosquito Control District board.
Ralph Garrison retained his Group 1 seat and Tim Matthews will keep his Group 3 seat.
Receiving 47.1 percent, or 54,392 votes, Garrison slid past challenger John Howell, who received 30.6 percent, or 35,331 votes, in the Group 1 race.
In the Group 3 race, Matthews received 56.3 percent, or 64,999 votes, to secure his seat over challenger Harrison C. Sherwin, who received 20.58 percent, or 23,754 votes.

Established in 1947, the board manages the special taxing district.
, with a $3 million budget to keep the mosquito population in check throughout Manatee County. Each board member, who serves a four-year term, receives $400 a month.
