Gov. Scott appoints clerk of circuit court
TALLAHASSEE -- Gov. Rick Scott appointed Bradenton resident Angelina Colonneso the Manatee County clerk of the circuit court on Friday.
Colonneso succeeds R.B. "Chips" Shore, who died July 28.
Colonneso, 47, is serving as the interim clerk for Manatee County, according to the release from the governor's office. She has served as general counsel to the Clerk's Office since 2012.

On Aug. 27, Colonneso filed to run for Manatee County clerk of the circuit court and comptroller in the 2016 election.
She is also a member of the Manatee County Bar Association, Association of Women Lawyers and Leadership Manatee Alumni Association.
Her term began Friday and ends Jan. 3, 2017.
USF open house for student prospects Thursday
SARASOTA -- The University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee, will hold an open house for prospective freshmen, transfer students and graduate students from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
The event on the USFSM campus at 8350 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, will include campus tours, free food and presentations by representatives from admissions and financial aid. Help will be available for admission applicants.
Enrollment last fall hit a 7-year high with 2,038 students who identify the Sarasota-Manatee campus as their home USF System campus.
