MANATEE -- City and state officials have scheduled next week’s road closings for the ongoing State Road 64/Manatee Avenue Improvement Project from 12th Street East to 15th Street West.
From 7 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, motorists should expect a temporary road closure of 12th Street West to the north of Manatee Avenue and Fourth Avenue West, according to a report.
After 12th Street West is reopened, a temporary road closure of 13th Street West to the north of Manatee Avenue and Fourth Avenue West is scheduled to run from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. July 29.
These temporary road closures are necessary for crews to install a new water line across 12th and 13th streets west along the north side of Manatee Avenue.

Business access during these temporary road closures will be available from Fourth Avenue West, the release stated. Motorists are advised to follow the suggested detours and to expect possible delays.
The improvement project consists of removing asphalt and resurfacing the road, drainage, signalization, landscaping, irrigation, decorative lighting and installation of new water lines. The project has an anticipated completion date of fall 2011.
Advance warning signs, electronic message boards, barricades and flaggers will be used to assist motorists, the release states. Motorists are urged to use caution, obey the 35 mph speed limit, expect possible delays and seek alternate routes whenever possible.
OTHER ROAD CLOSURES IN MANATEE COUNTY
Eighth Street West to the south of State Road 64/Manatee and Sixth Avenues West: through Friday for the installation of a new water line.
16th Avenue West from 13th and 14th streets and the right lane of 14th Street West between 16th Avenue West and 17th Avenue Drive: Closed 9-3:30 p.m. July 25 for the repair of a water valve.
n 17th Avenue West from First to Fifth streets west: Extended eastbound lane closure for installation of pipeline along the southern curb line of 17th Avenue West. Work will be done 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday through July 29.
n U.S. 41 between Moccasin Wallow Road and Bay Harbor Road: Right turn lanes in the northbound and southbound directions will be closed 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through July 30 while crews clean drainage structures.
n State Road 64/Manatee Avenue West from 12th to 15thstreets: Reconstruction, milling and resurfacing, streetscape and drainage improvements. Project scheduled through fall.
n CR 675/Rutland Road from U.S. 301 to State Road 64: Traffic control sign installations as well as erosion control installations.
n Sunshine Skyway Fishing Piers: Demolition of 75 spans from the eastern sides of the north and south fishing piers together with the pile caps and associated piles. Project begins in mid-July and is expected to be complete by spring 2012.
n City of Anna Maria: Boardwalk and landscaping from the City Pier at the end of Pine Avenue along North and South Bay boulevards, through October.
n U.S. 301 from Old Tampa Road/Erie Road to Rutland Road/ CR 675: Widening the roadway from two to four lanes, among other improvements. Work will be done from 8 p.m. through 4 a.m.
n State Road 64/Manatee Avenue West from First Street/U.S. 41/U.S. 301 to 15th Street: Road reduced to two lanes for utility work. Parking spaces on north side closed throughout project and on south side between First Street/U.S. 41/U.S 301 and Ninth Street West. Intermittent lane closures between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights, except 10 p.m. on Wednesday nights. Be aware of changed lane alignment between First Street and Seventh Street West.
n State Road 64 from County Road 675 to Zipperer Road: Intermittent lane closures while crews work in the shoulder.
n Various roads in vicinity of Bayshore, B.D. Gullett, Kinnan, Oneco, Palm View, Palma Sola, Prine, Rowlett and Samoset elementary schools: Possible lane closures, except during school arrival and dismissal times, for sidewalk installation. No work will be done between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. in residential areas.
