Officials plan to update residents once more on the looming closure of the Anna Maria Island Bridge.
The Florida Department of Transportation and project managers will hold a final information session from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 248 S. Harbor Drive, Holmes Beach, to review questions and concerns with residents on the bridge closure.
The Anna Maria Island Bridge will close to all vehicular traffic Sept. 29 for 45 days to undergo the remainder of a $10.1 million restoration project that began in February.
That will leave the Cortez Bridge on Cortez Road as the only direct route from the mainland to Anna Maria Island.
Representatives from several agencies plan to attend the meeting to review coordination efforts for the closure, such as plans for hurricane evacuation, emer- gencies, traffic congestion and waterway traffic.
"I think it's a good idea for (residents) to attend this meeting if they don't have all of their questions answered," said Audrey Clarke, public information officer for the bridge rehab project.
Among agencies that plan to be at the meeting, which is open to the public, are the U.S. Coast Guard, Emergency Medical Services, West Manatee Fire Rescue, local law enforcement agencies, island city leaders and Manatee County Area Transit.
In June, a bridge-closure information session gave residents a chance to air concerns and question the agencies about the closure.
On Thursday, the agencies plan to follow up on those questions, concerns and comments.
