n Issued a proclamation designating Dec. 14-20 Lincoln Memorial High School Alumnus Week in recognition of the graduates of the historic black school.
The week of events will end with the premiere showing of a METV-produced documentary, “Through the Tunnel,” which highlights the struggles of blacks in the days of segregation and the triumph of the famous Lincoln Memorial High School Trojans football team.
The film will be shown at 2:30 p.m., Dec. 20, at the Neel Performing Arts Center on the State College of Florida campus, 5840 26th St. W.
n Proclaimed Tuesday Vikki Comarsh-White Day after the county’s Employee of the Year, Vikki Comarsh-White, benefits coordinator in the Community Services Department.
Comarsh-White spoke of the emotional satisfaction she received in providing special help to many of the county’s less-fortunate residents.
n Approved the 2010 State Legislative Platform to be presented to the local Legislative delegation.
The four top Legislative priorities for the commissioners were opposition to offshore drilling; collection of sales tax on remote vendors, such as Internet sales; support of the SunRail commuter rail project; and transportation infrastructure connections to Port Manatee.
