MANATEE — A 48-year-old bicyclist was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital after his bike collided with a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office patrol car Saturday afternoon, according to a released statement.

A deputy was in the process of turning right onto 14th Street West from 57th Avenue West at 6:05 p.m. when the man smashed his bike into the front of the car, according to the statement.

The man was attempting to cross all lanes of traffic on 14th Street West without using a crosswalk, according to the release.

The man, who is homeless, had a possible broken leg and it is possible he will face DUI charges, according to the statement.

The patrol car had minimal damage and the deputy was not injured.
