MANATEE — The last remnants of Tropical Storm Ida will usher in cooler temperatures and increase this month’s rainfall in Manatee County, according to weather experts.
“We’re not going to see much more,” said Paul Close, meteorologist at Ruskin-based National Weather Service Center. “There’s going to be a few more showers, maybe a rumble of thunder. ... Nothing too bad.”
Some areas have received a half inch of rain, mostly north of the Tampa Bay area. Ida brought rainfall up to .15 of an inch so far this month in Manatee County, Close said as of 9 p.m. Tuesday.
A cold front is expected to move in Thursday with daytime highs reaching the lower 70s, he said. Winds may reach 15 mph.
With Ida’s remnants moving east of the southeastern U.S. coast, cooler air will be brought in from the Mississippi Valley, he said.
“It’s not going to be too eventful for us. Just some showers and much needed rain,” Close said.
The last decent rainfall the county had was on Oct. 27 when it rained .34 of an inch, he said.
