BioFlorida names Galvano Legislator of the Year
ORLANDO — BioFlorida’s members last week honored state Rep. Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton, as their Legislator of the Year.
BioFlorida, the statewide trade association for the bioscience industry, picked Galvano for his leadership and commitment to the biotechnology industry, officials said.
The award was named in memory of the late James E. “Jim” King Jr., a former Florida Senate president and Jacksonville Republican, who died last summer after a battle with cancer.
Galvano established the Legislative Biotechnology Caucus in 2008 and serves as its co-chairman. The caucus serves as a bipartisan forum for legislators to discuss Florida’s biotechnology industry.
