Blackburn fall festival scheduled

PALMETTO — Blackburn Elementary’s annual fall festival is set for 4-9 p.m. Oct. 17 at the school, 3904 17th St. E., Palmetto.

Admission is free to the event and it is open to the public, according to information from the Manatee County school district. The festival includes carnival rides, games and face painting. A Halloween costume contest for children is also scheduled. Judging takes place at 7 p.m.

Tickets are on sale at the school office and will be available at the door.

Local senior to get proclamation

BRADENTON — A Bradenton Preparatory Academy student is scheduled to be honored Thursday by Bradenton Mayor Wayne Poston.

Senior Byeong Hun An will be recognized as the youngest player to ever win the U.S. Amateur Open for golf during an 11 a.m. ceremony at the school, 7900 40th Ave W., Bradenton.
