9/12 Police briefs: Man found cooking in man’s kitchen

BRADENTON — A homeowner went to buy supplies for fixing his new home, and when he returned he found a homeless man cooking a rack of ribs in his kitchen, according to a Bradenton Police Department arrest report.

Ernest Lee Rosa, 43, was charged with burglary to a residence in the 1000 block of Seventh Street West.

Rosa told police he was living in the residence and was in the process of purchasing the home. The homeowner told police he wanted to press charges. Rosa was evicted from the residence a year ago, according to reports. Rosa entered the home through unlocked windows or doors, according to the report.

Rosa remained in jail Friday night on a $15,000 bond, according to the Manatee County jail Web site.

Man in critical condition after motorcycle crash

MANATEE — A 30-year-old Bradenton man remained in critical condition Friday night at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg after he was in motorcycle crash this week.

According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, the man was on his motorcycle riding west on Tallevast Road be- hind a box truck approaching Commerce Court just before 1 p.m. Thursday.

The motorcyclist tried passing the box truck on the left in a no-passing zone when a Ford pickup driven by a 47-year-old Sarasota woman was turning left at the intersection to go east on Tallevast from Commerce.

The right side of the man’s motorcycle collided with the left side of the pickup. The man was not wearing his helmet at the time of the crash.

Charges are pending, according to the report.

Man arrested after fighting detention employee

MANATEE — An 18-year-old man was arrested after knocking out an employee’s tooth at Palmetto Youth Academy, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Jordan Suarez was charged with battery on a detained employee after he tried provoking other inmates to fight staff members.

When a staff member tried to restrain Suarez, he struck him in the face, giving him a bruised eye and knocking out a tooth, according to the report. Suarez would not speak to deputies once his rights were read.

He remained in jail Friday night on a $10,000 bond, according to the Manatee County jail Web site.
