MANATEE — Two men armed with shotguns robbed a Palmetto family in a home invasion, leaving the residents with their wrists and ankles bound with duct tape and pillow cases over their heads, according to Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Sheriff’s report say at about 1:30 a.m. Friday, two armed men came up behind a 21-year-old resident of a home in the 3200 block of 48th Street East, Palmetto, and forced the victim from the driveway into his home.

The men ransacked the victim’s room, then moved to the victim’s parents’ room, where they forced the father, 48, to open a safe. The gunmen stole two guns out of the safe and the wallets of the father and 53-year-old mother also in the room. The gunmen then forced the father to give them keys to a Toyota Tacoma truck in the driveway, in which they fled.

Before leaving, the gunmen bound all three victims with duct tape on their wrists and ankles, and put pillow cases over their heads. The gunman also disabled the phones in the home during the robbery, the sheriff’s report said.

No arrests have been made.
