HOLMES BEACH — A Holmes Beach man has been arrested on a charge of sexual battery against a child, according to a Holmes Beach Police Department report.

Richard S. LeGore, 66, is being held on $50,000 bond in the Manatee County jail after police arrested him Saturday.

The police report said the girl, whose age was not listed, told police that LeGore molested her while she sat on his lap.

The girl said LeGore then told her, “He should not be doing this,” and put the girl to bed, the report said.

The girl later told her mother, who took the victim to a rape crisis center.

Officials at the center took the girl to the police department, where she reported LeGore, who is known to the victim, according to the report.

Man beaten in home invasion with metal pipes

MANATEE — A 52-year-old man was injured early Monday by three men who beat him with metal pipes before stealing his prescription medicine, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was sitting inside his trailer in the 3700 block of Manatee Avenue West at about 2:22 a.m. when three men burst in and began hitting him with metal pipes, a sheriff’s office report states.

They did not say anything to him, but he heard one attacker tell the others, “Get the bottles,” according to the report.

The attackers took the victim’s methadone and oxycontin, which were on a table next to the victim, and fled in an unknown direction, the sheriff’s office said.

The victim stumbled into the street, and a neighbor called 911.

The victim told investigators that he had just had the prescriptions filled, and he did not know anyone who might rob him, the report states.

The victim had cuts to his head and forearms, and was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The suspects were described as wearing blue jeans and having their faces covered, according to the sheriff’s office.

Woman faces felony in shopping cart theft

BRADENTON — Police arrested a Bradenton woman on a felony grand theft charge after an officer found a stolen grocery store shopping cart in her yard, according to a Bradenton Police Department report.

Reyna Yvonne Cartwright, 38, was arrested Friday at her home in the 600 block of 45th Street East, when she admitted to a police officer that she took the cart from a Publix in the 5000 block of State Road 64 East.

Cartwright told police she took the cart because her car broke down and she needed to bring groceries home to her kids, the report said.

The police officer contacted the Publix, and the store manager said Cartwright did not have permission to take the cart and that the store wanted to press charges against her.

Police took Cartwright to the Manatee County jail and she has since been released on $1,000 bond.

Report: Woman pepper sprays brother

MANATEE — Deputies arrested a woman who shot her brother with pepper spray during a domestic dispute, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.

The report said Rosa Georgina Welborn, 23, on Sunday got into an argument with her brother in his home in the 2800 block of 52nd Avenue Drive West about him breaking things in the kitchen.

After the argument, the victim said he walked past his sister’s room and she shot him in the face with pepper spray, according to the report.

Deputies arrested Welborn on as charge of domestic battery, and she was being held in the Manatee County jail on $500 bond.
