The Sunshine Skyway bridge was re-opened late Thursday morning, about 6 1/2 hours after it was closed because of heavy fog.
Florida Highway Patrol closed the bridge shortly before 5 a.m., according to the FHP website. On Tuesday, the bridge was closed for more than eight hours because of dense fog rolling in from the Gulf of Mexico.
According to Carlos Buqueras, the executive director of Port Manatee, the Coast Guard has closed the port to shipping traffic Thursday. The port remains open land side, so trucks that need to make deliveries to the port are being admitted. Buqueras said the Coast Guard has not informed port administration when the closure might end.
