SARASOTA -- A Sarasota man was charged with possessing nearly two dozen images and videos containing child porn, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
Steven Greenzweig, 49, was arrested at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday at his home. According to a report, detectives determined a particular Internet Protocol (IP) address was used to download more than 50 files previously identified as containing child pornography. Detectives confirmed the IP address was leased to a resident in the 700 block of Hand Avenue and obtained a search warrant for the home.
According to the sheriff's office, detectives spoke to the woman who lives there and learned that for a small monthly fee she provided the password for her wireless router to Greenzweig, her neighbor.
After obtaining a search warrant, detectives contacted Greenzweig at work and he accompanied them to his home. During their initial search, detectives reported finding nearly two dozen images and videos containing child porn, including some that depicted sexual battery or bondage.
"The images were checked against the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) database and eight files were of identified children," a release states.
Greenzweig was charged with 23 counts of possession: sexual performance by a child. According to sheriff's spokeswoman Wendy Rose, he is currently being held without bond. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending, the sheriff's office said.
