BRADENTON — A Bradenton man reportedly hiding marijuana in his socks was charged with possession and resisting arrest at 3:19 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
Dwight Murray, 27, was arrested in the 1900 block of 14th Street West, Bradenton.
During a search in the 1200 block of 21st Avenue West, police noticed Murray trying to hide something in his pocket and bulges inside his socks. Murray retrieved marijuana from his sock and handed it to police, according to a report.
When police tried to arrest Murray, he began running westbound on 21st Avenue West and then north on 13th Avenue West.
Before he was detained, an officer saw Murray drop a canister on the ground holding cocaine. Murray, arrested and transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital, told police he ran because the jails here are lame.
Murray was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest without violence, according to the report. He remains in Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $750, according to Manatee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Randy Warren.
