BRADENTON -- A Bradenton man was charged with breaking into a homeowner's lanai and threatening another victim with a knife, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
James L. Kain, 31, was arrested at 10:02 p.m. Sunday in the 2900 block of 63rd Street West, Bradenton. According to police, Kain entered an enclosed lanai attached to a residence and was confronted by the homeowner and her son-in-law. The son-in-law tried to stall Kain by blocking him and talking to him until police could arrive, a report states. Kain shoved the son-in-law, damaging the door as he left.
According to a report, the son-in-law followed Kain into the yard and tried stalling him again. Police said that's when Kain produced a knife and said he would "stick him." Police arrived and took Kain into custody.
Kain was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed burglary to a dwelling, burglary with assault and criminal mischief causing property damage, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. He was being held in Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $80,500.
