MANATEE — A 74-year-old Bradenton man is in serious condition after he rode his bicycle into the path of a jeep at 12:59 p.m. Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The bicyclist and the 61-year-old Bradenton man driving a 2014 Jeep Wrangler were eastbound on 17th Avenue Northwest approaching 88th Court Northwest, according to the news release. The bicycle was outside the eastbound lane.
The bicyclist apparently did not see the Jeep and turned left into its path. The driver swerved to miss the bicyclist but was unable to avoid the collision.
The bicyclist was taken to Blake Medical Center with serious injuries, according to the report.
No charges are pending against the driver.
