ENGLEWOOD -- An Englewood man riding a 2002 Harley-Davidson Fatboy motorcycle was killed in an accident reported at 8:18 p.m. Sunday on State Road 776 in Englewood, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver, whose name is withheld pending notification of family, was taken to Englewood Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was not wearing a helmet.
The FHP reports a 2008 Toyota Corolla driven by a 38-year-old Fort Myers man was stopped for a red light in the inside lane of eastbound S.R. 776 at the intersection of Spinnaker Boulevard. As the motorcycle tried to pass, it collided with the right rear of the Toyota and continued through the intersection running the red light before sliding on its side to a stop.
No charges are pending, according to FHP.
