MANATEE -- A Bradenton man was seriously injured when he rolled his car early Sunday in a single-vehicle accident, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.
Edward J. McGee, 30, was traveling westbound on 55th Avenue West in a 2012 Hyundai Sonata when he failed to stop for a stop sign at 26th Street West, according to the report. The car continued across all lanes of 26th Street West and struck a curb, causing it to go airborne and strike three traffic signs along the west shoulder of 26th Street West.
The car landed on its front right side, struck a chain-link fence and overturned onto its roof, then continued to travel west until stopping against a tree and a utility pole, the report states.
McGee was taken to Blake Medical Center. Alcohol was not involved, and he was wearing a seatbelt, the report notes.
