It will be a warm and breezy day in the Tampa Bay area Wednesday, ahead of a cold front bringing showers and a dip in temperatures.
According to Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez, the cold front is moving across the gulf and bringing a change in weather to the Bay area. The same cold front has already brought severe thunderstorms to parts of the southeast.
The Tampa Bay area has a high chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, along with windy conditions.
"There may be a couple of early showers today, though most of the area will be dry this morning," Marquez said. "But by later in the day, we may get some strong thunderstorms with gusty winds."
High temperatures Wednesday will approach 80 degrees. Rain chances are 70 percent. There is a risk of rip currents at area beaches today.
Cooler, but drier, air will move in for Christmas Day with high temperatures expected to remain in the upper 60s
