MANATEE -- A 32-year-old man was arrested after he ran away from a traffic crash he apparently caused and that left another driver seriously injured, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
About 9:25 p.m. Sunday, Luis D. Luna-Castillo of Bradenton was driving his 2007 Dodge Ram pickup north on U.S. 41 near 50th Avenue West when he veered left through the undivided painted median and into the path of a southbound 1998 Ford Escort driven by a 68-year-old Bradenton woman, according to a news release.
Troopers said Luna-Castillo ran away from the scene of the crash, but a short time later they found him hiding in some bushes and arrested him.
The woman was taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, where she was listed in serious condition, according to FHP.
Luna-Castillo was charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident and driving without a license. He was being held at the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $1,620.
FHP said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Booking information for Luna-Castillo was not available on the Manatee County jail website.
