News release from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office:
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a 20-year-old man after deputies attempting to serve an arrest warrant witnessed him injecting a teenage girl with drugs.
Deputies went to the home in the 2600 block of Loma Linda Street just before 7:00 p.m., last night and could see a man later identified as Anthony Henry putting a needle into the girl's arm. Deputies quickly announced themselves and Henry put the syringe in a nearby bottle and ran out of the room. Deputies ordered him to come to the door and Henry admitted injecting the teen with Roxicodone. Deputies contacted paramedics to determine if medical treatment was necessary before sending the teen home with her mother who had been called to the scene.
Henry is charged with felony Child Abuse, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Evidence and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is currently on probation so he was also charged with that violation as well.
The wanted suspect for whom deputies initially went to the home was also arrested.
