The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit, working in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, today captured a career criminal wanted on two felony charges.
Deputies arrested Jerral Bell, 25, during a felony traffic stop Wednesday morning at University Parkway and Shade Avenue in Sarasota.
Bell was the man shown on surveillance video firing his weapon in the midst of a crowd gathered in north Sarasota in the early morning July 5.
After his release from jail in July, Bell failed to appear in court for his arraignment on charges of discharging a firearm in public and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Bell has been arrested more than 20 times for crimes including battery, burglary and multiple drug and weapons charges.
Bell was featured on the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Facebook page for the most recent "Fugitive Friday," a weekly social media campaign to highlight wanted criminals. He is the second of four suspects featured in August to be apprehended.
