MANATEE -- A suspected drunken driver was arrested early Friday after she hit a sheriff's office car and injured a detective stopped on the side of State Road 70 in Manatee, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 12:33 a.m., in the far right eastbound lane in the 5000 block of State Road 70, the detective was in his car filling out paperwork after stopping a motorcyclist for a traffic violation, when he heard a vehicle, looked in his rear-view mirror and saw a Jeep approaching, according to a news release.
"Just as he did this, the front corner of the Jeep struck the left rear corner of the patrol car," the report states. "The Jeep continued moving forward with the right side of the Jeep driving along the left side of the patrol car."
The Jeep went a short distance before stopping in the grass on the south side of State Road 70.
Responding deputies arrested the driver of the Jeep, Kerri Flanagan, 41. She nor the motorcyclist was injured, but the detective was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.
Flanagan, who faces a charge of DUI with property damage, is being held on $500 bond at the Manatee County jail.
