MANATEE -- A 57-year-old man has been charged with stealing $11 worth of rat traps from a woman at a south Manatee bus stop, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 11:19 a.m., the victim and the suspect, Mark Keitel, were waiting for a Sarasota County Area Transit Bus in front of the Walmart Supercenter at 8320 Lockwood Ridge Road, according to a news release.
"The suspect grabbed the victim's purse and tried to flee with it. The victim grabbed her purse and the pair struggled over it," the report states.
Deputies said Keitel let go of the purse and grabbed a Home Depot bag containing the rat traps.

"The pair again struggled over the bag with the suspect taking the bag and walking off towards Walmart," the report states.
Responding deputies saw Keitel sitting on a bench in front of the Walmart, and the victim was able to identify him as the thief, according to the report.
Keitel was arrested, and the rat traps were returned to the woman, the sheriff's office.
There were no reports of injuries.
Keitel faces a charge of robbery by sudden snatching. Booking information was not available on the Manatee County jail website.
