BRADENTON -- An off-duty detective came to the rescue of a woman who was overdosing on heroin Tuesday night, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
Detective Lixa Moyett was working an off-duty detail at 8:00 p.m. at the Bravo Supermarket at 2004 14th St. W. when a man came up to her and said a 38-year-old woman in his vehicle was overdosing, according to police.
The man later told Moyett the woman had used heroin and began to pass out, police said.
Moyett found the woman unresponsive and removed her from the vehicle, according to a release. She found a weak pulse, but the woman was not breathing.

Moyett advised dispatch of the situation and performed CPR on the woman for four to five minutes before the Bradenton Fire Department and later Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and took over medical efforts, police said.
The woman regained consciousness and was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital.
