Two Bradenton school campuses were placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after a possible kidnapping at the Walmart store on Cortez Road in Bradenton, according to Bradenton police.
The lockdowns -- at Bradenton Christian School, 3304 43rd St. W. and Manatee High School, 902 33rd St. Court W. -- were in effect from about 11 a.m. to 11:40 a.m., after police detained three people possibly involved in the incident at Walmart, 5315 Cortez Road W.
There was a report of a gunshot near BCS, but no one was hit, police said.
About 10:50 p.m., police received a report that three people had forced a man into a car in the Walmart parking lot, according to Bradenton Deputy Police Chief Warren Merriman.
Never miss a local story.
The suspects drove the man to 43rd Street West, near Bradenton Christian, where they beat him, Merriman said.
A gunshot was heard, but there were no reports of injuries or damage from the shooting, he said.
The bloodied victim was able to get out of the car, and an officer responding to Walmart found him walking along 43rd Street West, Merriman said.
Other officers spotted the suspects' vehicle in the 1700 block of 43rd Street West, and made a felony traffic stop in the 1200 block of 40th Street West, where the three occupants were taken into custody for questioning, according to police.
Officers also found a revolver with one missing round, Merriman said.
No arrests have been made, but the case remains under investigation, he said.
