MANATEE -- Four to six assailants got away empty-handed when they tried to rob a man who was riding a bicycle Saturday morning near Palmetto, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 7:30 a.m., the victim was riding near the intersection of First Avenue and 21st Street West, Palmetto, when four to six males described as being between 16 and 19 years old knocked him off the bike and tried to remove his wallet from his back pocket, according to a news release.
"A resident saw what was happening and yelled at the suspects," the report states. "The suspects fled north from the area on foot, failing to take the victim's property," the report states.
The victim was treated on scene for minor cuts and scrapes, the sheriff's office said.
