Police arrested a juvenile who they say was in possession of vials of crack cocaine and tried to flee from them as they executed a search warrant at her home Friday afternoon.
Bradenton police's narcotics unit served the warrant around 2 p.m. in the 2100 block of 10th Street West, with the assistance of the department's SWAT team and detectives, according to a news release.
As officers approached the residence, the juvenile was found in the front yard and attempted to flee as they ordered her to stop, authorities said. She resisted their attempts to put her in handcuffs, they said, and when they searched her they found vials containing crack cocaine.
The suspect told officers she was pregnant and in need of medical attention. She was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for evaluation. She is charged with possession of rock cocaine with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A small dog at the residence was taken into possession by animal services because there was no one to care for it, police said.
