Bradenton police were investigating an attempted robbery and a home invasion that may be related.
The robbery attempt took place around 10:41 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of 17th Avenue West. The victim was in his front yard when he was approached by three men who demanded money, then pistol whipped him, police said.
Two of the suspects fled on foot, while one of them fled in a vehicle. Police dogs unsuccessfully tried to track them.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The second incident happened around 11:54 p.m. in the 1000 block of 20th Street East. The victim arrived home and was forced into his residence at gunpoint, police said.
Once inside, the suspects stole an undetermined amount of cash and a TV. They fled in a vehicle whose description was similar to that of the vehicle in the earlier attempted robbery, police said, but the suspect descriptions vary.
No further details were made available.
