Singletary sat next to the victim when she was riding a SCAT bus to work on July 19, according to a release. He tried to engage her in conversation and she ignored him.
Singletary asked for her name and began to repeat it incessantly when she gave it, according to police. He asked for her phone number and she refused.
The victim said Singletary got up from his seat and with his back to the front of the bus, removed his back flip phone, wallet and a light blue or silver box cutter knife from his pocket, according to the release.
