A construction worker was seriously injured and tar was spilled onto State Road 70 during an early morning accident Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
A construction vehicle had stopped in the center lane of S.R. 70, just west of Creekwood Boulevard, some time around 5:20 a.m. to remove a reflector from the road when it was struck by a safety truck following behind it, according to the report.
A worker seated in the rear of the vehicle was ejected. The man, 29-year-old Steven Warzecha, of Enterprise, was taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton with serious injuries, the report states.
Equipment containing tar was detached from the truck, spilling tar onto the roadway. Two of the three lanes of S.R. 70 were closed until the tar was cleaned up later Saturday morning.
