A Bradenton man has been charged in the shooting death of a 19-year-old man found lying in a Sarasota driveway early Saturday.
Darian K. Davis, 20, is charged with first-degree murder, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
The incident happened in the 4800 block of Baccus Avenue, off Proctor Road in Sarasota.
Deputies with the Sarasota sheriff's office responded to a call about a shooting there around 4 a.m., according to a news release. When they arrived, they found the victim lying in the driveway of a residence with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was identified as Justin J. Ates, of Sarasota.
Davis was later located in Manatee County and booked into the Manatee County jail, authorities said.
The Manatee County Sheriff's Office was assisting with the investigation.
