MANATEE -- Strong thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon and into the early evening hours, according to the National Weather Service.
"Ample moisture and instability will lead to scattered to numerous thunderstorms along the sea breeze circulations," the Weather Service said.
The Weather Service said there could be large rainfall amounts in same areas. Also, there could be strong gusty winds, frequent lightning strikes and small hail, as the storms move slowly inland.
The chance of rain in Bradenton is listed at 20 percent.
Just before 4 p.m., the Weather Service issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Sarasota County.
Doppler radar indicated rainfall rates of two to three inches per hour in the area.
"Localized flooding is imminent or occurring," the Weather Service said.
The advisory is in effect until 5 p.m.
