MANATEE -- A man was stabbed multiple times when he tried to break up a fight between a couple he was staying with in Bradenton on Sunday evening, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 7:18 p.m., in a trailer at the Orange Grove Mobile Home Park, 2615 Cortez Road W., an argument between Joseph L. Covino, and his girlfriend turned physical when he started to punch her. The second man grabbed Covino to stop him, and Covino started fighting with him, according to a news release.
Covino armed himself with a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck, forearm, back and groin, according to the sheriff's office. The victim stumbled outside and collapsed, according to the report. He was taken to Blake Medical Center for treatment.
Covino fled the area, but he was arrested Monday morning in the 3100 block of Cortez Road West.

The sheriff's office said Covino faces charges of aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery.
According to the Manatee County jail website, Covino on Monday morning was being held without bond on a charge of violating a previous probation.
