SARASOTA -- Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department have charged a man with murder in connection to a homicide that occurred on March 10, according to police.
Shaquan D. Leverett, 19, of Sarasota, was charged with the murder of Carlton Parhm, 23, of Palmetto, according to a release. On March 10, 2014 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Sarasota Police Department officers responded to the 3200 block of North Orange Avenue in reference a homicide, and found Parhm's body with a gunshot wound.

They left the area and drove eastbound on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Way in Sarasota, according to the release. As the vehicle turned south onto Leon Avenue, a gunshot shattered the front passenger window, killing Parhm.
