BRADENTON -- The 17th Avenue West bridge over Wares Creek will be closed starting Friday so it can be rebuilt as part of the Wares Creek dredging project, the city said Monday.
The street between 18th Street West and 22nd Street West will be closed until the estimated completion date of November 2014.
The bridge is the latest to be rebuilt as part of the project to improve the flow of water through the creek. The previous bridges to rebuilt are on Ninth, 12th and 14th avenues west.
The rebuilding of the four bridges is costing about $7 million, with funding coming from the Southwest Florida Water Management District and a loan from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
