A Bradenton woman had $2,000 in cash stolen when she tried to buy Valium from a neighbor Tuesday afternoon, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports.
The 33-year-old woman was contacted by the suspect, 54-year-old Stephen Young, who lives across the street from her in the 300 52nd Avenue Place West, sometime around 12:50 p.m. according to a sheriff's report.
The woman went across the street to buy some Valium, investigators said, and, while sitting in a chair with $2,000 in her lap, she inspected the pills and realized they weren't Valium. When she told Young she wasn't going to buy any, Young grabbed the money from her lap and ran to his truck, the sheriff's office alleges.
The victim was shoved back as she attempted to recover the cash, but was uninjured, deputies said.

Young faces a charge of robbery by sudden snatching, according to the sheriff's report. No other charges were reported.
