LONGBOAT KEY -- A celebrity plastic surgeon known for her appearances on "Good Morning America" has sold her Longboat Key vacation home for $3.25 million.
Pamela Lipkin, a rhinoplasty specialist who practices in New York and California, sold the .825-acre property to Paul and Sarah Karon of Minneapolis on March 12, according to Manatee County property records. The sale price reflects a half-million dollar discount from the list price of $3.795 million.
The property, which is on the beach on the Gulf side of the key, has a main house and a guest house. Together, the two houses feature six bedrooms and six bathrooms, and total nearly 4,800 square feet.
The main house was built in 1946.
Never miss a local story.
Paul Karon is the chairman of the American branch of London-based reinsurer Aon Benfield. He and his wife reside in Minneapolis.
The couple already owns property just up the road, at 6601 Gulfside Road. They purchased the 3,492-square-foot, five-bedroom house for $2.1 million in 2009.
Jamey Gesell-Hirschman, the buyer's agent on the transaction, said the Gulf of Mexico Drive property is the second she and her husband, Jim, have sold to the Karons. They represented the Karons on the Gulfside Road transaction.
She said the Karons purchased their latest property with the intention of moving to Longboat Key full time. The couple plan to remodel or rebuild on the new property. They will retain their other Longboat Key home for guests, Gesell-Hirschman said.
Reid Murphy, listing agent on the transaction, said the sale is one of many he expects to make this year. He said he sells about a dozen Longboat Key properties each year, most of them in the $1 million-plus category.
His client, Lipkin, walks away from the sale with a
good-sized profit. She purchased the property in 2010 for $2.2 million. County records show that Lipkin lists her New York address as 910 Fifth Ave., an apartment building across the street from Central Park.
She maintains plastic surgery practices in New York City and Los Angeles, according to her company website.
