When Bob Nappi arrived home one recent afternoon, he was in for a little surprise.
Make that a six-foot long surprise.
There was an alligator in the family’s pool.
Bob’s wife, Pat, got home just as trappers were removing the critter and thought the experience funny.
“We see gators all the time,” she said. “We just didn’t think we’d see them in our backyard pool.”
They figure the gator poked in one of the screens and went swimming.
The gator’s gone, but the Nappi’s have a keeper for the holidays.
“We’ve got our Christmas card,” Pat joked.
n Sounds like Louise Wilson had one heck of a 100th birthday bash recently.
Her family, including two daughters and their spouses, grandchildren and their spouses, and great-grand children celebrated at Westminster Manor where she’s lived since 1995.
There was a video montage of photos of Louise’s life from toddler to matriarch, accompanied by classical music, her favorite.
The birthday girl also received congratulatory letters from President and Mrs. Obama as well as from the Tampa Bay Rays, her favorite baseball team.
She also received several gifts from Westminster administrator Kathleen Sylvia.
n Newlyweds Heather and Joey Patoray of Parrish won the $16,000 Ultimate Backyard Makeover Contest, an online contest sponsored by WQ/mag.
Heather is a second-grade teacher at Bashaw Elementary, and Joey teaches middle school at IMG.
