If anyone doubts that people will come to a fundraiser in the middle of summer, then just ask Ron Getman and the Gold Star Club.
The organization sold out their Caribbean Nights auction and dance again this year, with more than 400 folks filling the Bradenton Auditorium.
Of course, it helps that the group knows how to throw a summer bash that brings people back year after year.
They kept the party casual, with everyone wearing their comfortable “Tommy Bahama” looks. Grilled burgers and drinks with umbrellas in them satisfied appetites and a terrific silent auction made the “shop ’til you drop” crowd happy.
The Gold Star Club uses the money they raise to provide rewards for unsolved murders in Manatee County, so the crowd included several law enforcement and government officials.
Manatee County Sheriff Brad Steube and his wife, Debbie, spent some time chatting with Palmetto Police Chief Garry Lowe.
Plenty of other movers and shakers were seen including Larry and Nancy Coleman, Ed and Xtavia Bailey, Chris and Maggie Mooney Portale and Rae and Joe Dowling.
