n Big ups to Brittany Wilson, who just signed a volleyball scholarship with State College of Florida (nee MCC). The 2009 Manatee High grad shared her big moment with parents Kimlyn and Terry, sister Brianne, Manatee Area Volleyball Club coach Ralph McElhiney and his wife Donna, grandmother Joan Rupert, friends Richelle Roy and Whitney McElhiney, who will also play at SCF, and friend Rhonda Strawn.
n New student members of the Saint Stephen’s Honor Council for the upcoming school year are Joshua Kezar, Nilan Patel, Michelle Vogler, Aiste Zalepuga, Amanda Culp, Estee Elliott, Ashleigh Gregoria, Zina Versfeld, Cameron Ayala, Jamie Davis, Geena Gregory, Naarai Jacobs and Jeremy Thompson.
The faculty members for next year, led by Dominique Craft and Peggie Johnson, will be Elisa Bolotin, Leo Calleja, Brittany Gerren, Karen Marshall, David Snodgress and Will Southerland.
The honor council’s role is to uphold the School’s Honor Code and address honor transgressions.

n Dewey and Helen Eason hosted a July 4th weekend party at their cozy hideway in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
Bill Anderson, a 1954 Manatee County High grad and former Tennessee Vol, was among their guests, and brought along his Super Bowl ring which Helen tried out — on her thumb.
Anderson, who will be 73 next Monday, was a backup tight end in 1966 with Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers, who defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in the inaugural Super Bowl.
Anderson was a color commentator for UT football and basketball for 30 years and is 1994 UT Hall of Famer.
n It’s coming all 7s for Derek Burger, who was 7 lbs., 7 oz., a birth and turns 21 today.

n The Florida Blood Service fundraiser held recently at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Holmes Beach raised $17,248 for the Wildlife Education & Rehabilitation Center; $7,548 for the Anna Maria Island Community Center; $6,548 for the Anna Maria Island Privateers; $3,540 for the Anna Maria Island Rotary; and $2,915 for the West Manatee Fire & Rescue Volunteers.
