The ribbons sell for $12 each and $4 goes to the American Cancer Society. October is breast cancer awareness month and these ribbons are flying out the door. High School Golf Charity Challenge for local alums
EAST MANATEE — All former high school golfers from Manatee and Sarasota counties from the past 25 years are invited to compete in the High School Golf Charity Challenge at Rosedale County Club.

Free document shredding Oct. 23 in Sarasota
SARASOTA — Sarasota Document Shredding, 4563 Mariotti Court, will host a free shredding and recycling event from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 23 to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
The event will be free, but donations are encouraged. All donations, which go to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, are tax deductible.

Physical therapy clinics helps cancer fundraiser
MANATEE — Bay Area Physical Therapy is accepting pink lids from Yoplait containers, which will raise 10 cents for each lid to go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation prior to Dec. 31.
The distribution of the money is determined by the zip codes the lids are sent from. In this case, the Florida Suncoast Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure includes Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, and Sarasota counties.
For every 10 pink Yoplait lids brought in, a donor’s name is entered in a drawing for a chance to win a free one-hour massage.
Monetary donations to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation also will be accepted at the locations at 3637 Cortez Road and 1401 Eighth Ave. W. in Palmetto. For more information, call (941) 739-7828 or (941) 722-4000.
