Manatee Tech College offers free cosmetology services
MANATEE -- Cosmetology students at Manatee Technical College are offering facials, makeup, haircuts, hair color, manicures, pedicures, waxing and more from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
The services at 6305 E. State Road 70, Bradenton, are designed to raise money to compete at the National SkillsUSA Championships.
Nail and skin services available by appointment only.

SCF students to perform with Cheryl Tschanz
BRADENTON -- State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, faculty members Felicia Brunelle on violin and cellist Fred Gratta will perform with pianist Cheryl Tschanz at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at SCF Bradenton in Neel Performing Arts Center.
Brunelle is a longstanding member of the Sarasota Orchestra and concertmaster for the Missouri Symphony.
Gratta is principal cellist for the St. Petersburg Opera Co. and Tampa Bay Symphony, will perform with Brunelle.
Tschanz made her major orchestral debut at age 11 as guest soloist with the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra. She lives in Orlando and maintains a private teaching studio and is active as a soloist and chamber musician.
General admission is $8. Tickets are $4 for students and SCF employees.

Manatee Orchid Society to meet March 8
MANATEE -- Monroe Kokin will discuss "Growing Orchids in Southwest Florida" at the Manatee Orchid Society's 7 p.m. March 8 meeting at Manatee River Garden Club, 3120 1st Ave. West in Bradenton. .
Monroe has a collection of more than 1,100 orchid's specializing in bulbophyllums.
Monroe was president of the Sarasota Orchid Society for more than nine years and was show chairman for 13. He is also a life member of Central Florida Orchid Society in Orlando and is a member of Central Jersey Orchid Society.
